When Rishabh Pant discussed Team India on a broadcast, Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz made a significant statement regarding him.
At the T20 World Cup, Pakistan was shocked by a loss to Zimbabwe on Thursday, which diminished their prospects of making the semifinals. The team had lost to their bitter rivals India in the Super 12 stage opener, and now, after losing to Zimbabwe, the cricket community in the nation is understandably angry.
The Pakistani fast bowler went to great lengths regarding the lack of squad depth in the nation’s cricket system. Riaz compared Pakistan and India, noting how the latter have developed their cricketing arsenal over time after many veteran cricketers expressed their dissatisfaction at the poor performance of their middle-order.
“If your system is effective, no one will voice an objection. There should be a selection procedure; for instance, if your criteria are to appraise domestic performances, you must determine whether or not Amir, Umar Gul, Shoaib Akhtar, or Sohail Tanvir have performed there. They should play if they have them and are healthy,” Wahab Riaz said on 24 News HD.
“Rishabh Pant is India’s best wicketkeeper-batter since Dhoni”: Wahab Riaz
Wahab Riaz illustrated his idea with an example from the Indian cricket squad.
“I’ll give you an example from India Rishabh Pant is India’s best wicketkeeper-batter since MS Dhoni, with hundreds in England and Australia. Would he sit outside a World Cup match if he was in Pakistan?”
“No way. India kept him out in favor of Dinesh Karthik. They know Pant is a brilliant cricketer, but they also know they need a finisher. That’s the way to go,” Wahab Riaz stated.
Babar-led On Sunday, Pakistan will try to snap a losing streak at the T20 World Cup 2022.
