At the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli has gotten off to a fast start, and Rohit Sharma, who overcame some difficulty in the middle to register a significant half-century against the Netherlands on Thursday.

However, Suryakumar Yadav, India’s number four, regularly decimates the rival bowling attacks, and this has contributed significantly to their recent success in the game’s shortest format.

Suryakumar Yadav was at his aggressive best against the Netherlands, smashing 51 runs off 25 balls to enable India set the goal of 180 runs for the Dutch, despite only falling for a quickfire 15 off 10 balls against Pakistan. Netherlands’ comeback score in 20 overs was only 123-9.

Suryakumar Yadav Has Always Been The Aggressor: Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir, a former cricketer for India, praised Suryakumar Yadav for his performance against the Netherlands. In only one year and seven months after making his T20I debut, Suryakumar has produced multiple match-winning runs for the men in blue, often outplaying the top order, including Rohit, Kohli, and KL Rahul, according to Gambhir.

The 32-year-old has frequently taken the initiative in his partnerships with India’s starting lineup, particularly those with Kohli.

“At No.4, he doesn’t(often) get the luxury of batting in first six overs, still being able to score close to 1000 runs at that strike rate.

He has taken lot of pressure off whether it is Virat Kohli that he is batting alongside, Rohit Sharma or for that matter even KL Rahul. Whenever he has batted, he has been the aggressor,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.

“He is the one who is taking lot of pressure off the top three and that’s the reason why India have been able to get to 180 runs(179) today,” Gambhir added.

Three Indian batters—Rohit, Kohli, and Suryakumar—scored half century in the game against the Netherlands. Kohli scored the most runs out of the three with a knock of 62 runs in 44 balls, while Rohit scored 53 runs off 39 balls. Suryakumar, though, was named the game’s best player.
