IND vs SA: Virat Kohli Crosses 1000-Run Mark In a Calendar Year For First Time Since 2019

Virat Kohli, the star Indian batsman, finally reached 1,000 runs in 2022 after failing to do it in back-to-back years. Virat reached this milestone while playing for his team in the present ICC T20 World Cup at Sydney Cricket Ground against the Netherlands in Group 2, Super 12.
Virat collected an undefeated 62 runs from 44 balls throughout the game. He hit two sixes and three boundaries during his knock. The hitter has a batting average of 39.38 and 1,024 runs in 28 games and 31 innings this season. His bat has produced one century and nine half-centuries, with the greatest total being 122*.
Virat Kohli Back In Form
He struggled with consistency with the bat in 2020 and 2021 and was unable to reach the 1000-run milestone.
Virat scored 842 runs at an average of 36.60 in 22 games and 24 innings in 2020. His bat produced seven half-centuries, with the best score being 89.
His numbers somewhat improved the next year, with the hitter amassing 964 runs in 24 games and 30 innings at an average of 37.07. Throughout the year, he managed 10 half-centuries, with his highest solo effort coming at 80*. The batter used to touch the four-digit threshold for fun virtually every year, but he was unable to do so.
Until he took a vacation following India’s tour of England back in July, things looked extremely terrible for this prolific batter this year as well.
Virat returned to the national team for the Asia Cup 2022, and he hasn’t stopped since. After more than a year, he finally achieved his eagerly awaited 71st international tonne.
With 276 runs scored in five innings at an average of 92.00, he was second overall in the event in terms of run totals. His bat produced a century, an undefeated 122*, and two half-centuries.
With two more half-centuries in the subsequent home series against Australia and South Africa, Kohli maintained his strong performance.
Virat Kohli Now India’s Leading Run-scorer In T20 World Cup
He is now India’s leading run scorer and the fourth-highest run scorer overall in the T20 World Cup. In two games, he scored 144 runs, including two undefeated half-centuries. His 82-run innings against Pakistan in the instant classic game has quickly become regarded as one of his greatest by many in the world of cricket.
Virat has scored 548 runs in 12 innings since his comeback, averaging 78.28. Since his comeback, he has scored one century and five half-centuries, with a top score of 122*.
Notably, Virat Kohli has seen several extraordinary moments in his career, including four straight years with 2000 or more runs: 2,595 runs in 2016; 2,818 runs in 2017; 2,735 runs in 2018; and 2,455 runs in 2019. (2019).
