The 2022 T20 World Cup’s Super 12 stage comes down to India’s final game, and the dashing Rishabh Pant is still nowhere to be seen. When Dinesh Karthik got hurt during India’s loss to South Africa, Pant filled in as the team’s backup wicketkeeper, and that was the only time he appeared in a game.

Karthik hasn’t been able to finish shots as well as he should have. In the three games that he batted, he only managed single-digit totals. Experts are increasingly urging Pant to be included in the starting lineup, especially since he is the only left-handed specialist on the team.

Ian Chappell, a former captain of Australia, shares the same opinion. He expressed his opinion on the Indian team lineup during a debate on Sydney Morning Herald on the inclusion of a struggling Tim David in the Australia XI.

“What has Tim David done at the international level? Sometimes, selectors pick people on domestic form, and I think India is a classic example. They are picking Dinesh Karthik ahead of Rishabh Pant, ridiculous! Rishabh Pant should be playing every game. But, that’s a tendency,” Chappell said on Sydney Morning Herald.

“I have been saying ‘Let’s wait on Tim David, let’s play him after the World Cup, get him some international matches.’ And let’s see if he can belt them around. And Not just belt the average 120kmh guys, can he belt the 150kmh guys? Because that’s not so easy.”

When India plays Zimbabwe on Sunday in their final Group 2 encounter in the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Rohit Sharma’s team will be under pressure (November 6). Watching India’s plan in this crucial game would be interesting.

India must defeat Zimbabwe after Pakistan defeated South Africa on Thursday. If they lose, they will only have six points left. India would be eliminated from the tournament if South Africa and Pakistan win their remaining games.
