After the Netherlands defeated South Africa by 13 runs at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, India automatically qualified for the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal.

After five games in Group 2 of the Super 12s, the Dutch victory assured that South Africa would remain on five points and be guaranteed to lose out on a semifinal berth. Playing its last group match against Zimbabwe in Melbourne later that day, India, which has six points, has already advanced automatically to the last four.

The victor of the match between Pakistan (four points) and Bangladesh (four points) would now have the opportunity to go to the semifinal, thanks to the Proteas. The second game of the day will pit them against one another at the same location.

India’s Semi-final Opponents To Be Decided After Game Against Zimbabwe

With a top-four result in Group 2 and automatic qualification to the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States of America and the West Indies, Netherlands are well-positioned thanks to their surprise victory.

If India defeats Zimbabwe, it will finish first in Group 2 with eight points. At the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, it will then take on England in the second semifinal. If the Men in Blue make a mistake during the game, they might come in second and face New Zealand in the opening semifinal on Wednesday in Sydney.

India has advanced to the semifinals in the previous three editions (2007, 2014, and 2016).

In the final match of the T20 World Cup 2022, the team captained by Scott Edwards managed to score a total of 158-4 in 20 overs while batting first.

The Netherlands scored 158-4 in 20 overs because to contributions from Colin Ackermann (41*), Max ODowd (29), Tom Cooper (35), and Stephan Myburgh (37). In response, South Africa could not pursue the target as the Dutch team pulled off a major shock.

All of the tops-six batters of the Proteas got a start but none could make it big, resulting in small partnerships which were not enough.
