India take on New Zealand in their second and final warm up match ahead of the start of their T20 World cup 2022 campaign against Pakistan on October 23. The match will start from 1.30 pm on October 19. India defeated Australia by six wickets while the Kiwis lost to the Proteas in their first warm up game.

The super 12 round begins on October 22 with the first match between Australia and New Zealand– the finalists of last year’s T20 World Cup. The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 final will be played on November 13. India will play their opening game on October 23 against Pakistan. The IND vs PAK clash will be played at Melbourne Cricket Stadium.

India made some last-minute changes to their T20 World Cup squad. Mohammed Shami has been named as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement. He made an immediate impact in the first game taking three wickets in the final over of the match defending 11 runs. India’s World Cup squad looks very balanced with the inclusion of Shami despite the absence of Bumrah in the bowling department.

In this article, we take a look at India’s predicted playing XI for the match against New Zealand. The toss-up between Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik will be an interesting observation.

Rohit will open the batting. In the first game against Australia, he scored 15 off 14 deliveries. He will look to score some runs ahead of the Pakistan clash.

Rahul scored a brilliant 57 opening the batting. He played with an attacking instinct and with a good strike rate, something for which he was criticised recently.

Virat Kohli

Kohli scored 19 off 13 deliveries. Against New Zealand, he will be eyeing a big score ahead of India’s clash against Pakistan.

SKY too scored a fifty against Australia. He is the most in-form batter for India at the moment. His 360-degree playing approach makes him a difficult player to bowl to.

Hardik Pandya

Pandya slots in at five. He scored just two in the previous match but bowled three good overs. The Indian all-rounder made a good comeback in the Asia Cup and needs to stay fit.

Dinesh Karthik (WK)

Karthik might be chosen over Pant again. In case the management wants to play Pant and Karthik together, the southpaw might come in place of KL Rahul and open the batting along with Rohit Sharma.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin gave away 28 runs off his four overs. He should be one of the two spinners in the playing XI in this match and also in the match against Pakistan.

Axar Patel did not bowl in the previous match. Yuzvendra Chahal should be chosen above him in this game as he is a specialist leg spinner who will be a better option against the Kiwis.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvi picked up 2 for 20 in the game against Australia. He picked up early wickets as he does in the powerplay. His job will be similar in this game and in the game against Pakistan.

Mohammed Shami

Shami bowled a brilliant last over against Australia to win the game for India. He picked up three wickets. After such a performance, he should play every match in this T20 World Cup for India.

The left-arm seamer concludes India’s likely playing XI for the game against New Zealand. The bowling lineup will have enough options with five regular bowlers and Hardik as the sixth bowling option.
