New Zealand National Cricket Team pace spearhead Tim Southee has said that partnering the left-arm seamer Trent Boult has been “pretty special” for him and the 33-year-old is hoping to partner the left-arm pacer in more ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup events.
Southee and Boult, who have played together since their age-group days, are among the greatest fast bowling combinations in the history of the game. Southee has picked up 347 Test wickets, 199 ODI wickets, and 125 T20I wickets in his remarkably successful career and Boult has bagged 317 Test wickets, 187 ODI wickets, and 68 T20I wickets for the Kiwis.
Also, two of the greatest New Zealand fast bowlers of all time, Boult and Southee, have won several matches for the Black Caps.

Meanwhile, Southee has accepted the fact that he won’t be partnering with Trent Boult forever, but he is hopeful of playing more marquee tournaments with him.
“Yeah, I guess the future is unknown. We’ve played a lot of cricket together, from under-19 World Cups to domestic cricket to domestic Asia cricket, and then, for the last 10 or so years, all three formats for New Zealand. Yeah, it’s been pretty special.
“I guess all good things come to an end at some stage. Yeah, hopefully, it’s not the end and not the last world event that we’re a part of together,” Southee was quoted as saying at the press conference before New Zealand’s match against Sri Lanka on Saturday, October 29 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
We do certainly cherish every game we get to play together – Tim Southee

The 33-year-old further said that he and Boult “certainly cherish every game” they get to play together for the Black Caps.
“Yeah, unsure what that may look like going forward, but yeah, we do certainly cherish every game we get to play together, and hopefully there’s still a few more, obviously this tournament and going beyond,” he added.
Earlier this year, the 33-year-old Trent Boult took a step back from international cricket after opting out of his central contract.
On August 10, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced that the board has agreed to release Trent Boult from the central contract after the pacer had requested to stay out of it to spend more time with his family and make himself available for franchise T20 leagues. Staying out of the central contract doesn’t end Boult’s international career, it’s just he will be playing fewer games for the Kiwis.
