PAK vs ENG: "I Have Said This Many A Times That You Need To Develop Your Sweep"- Misbah-ul-Haq's Advice To Babar Azam

Former Pakistani captain Misbah-ul-Haq expressed concern over Babar Azam‘s inability to hit sweep shots against wristspinners and utilise his feet against spinners.
The final confrontation between Adil Rashid and Babar Azam was always going to occur. Rashid has previously defeated him with his googlies. Rashid managed to keep it fairly full and on the middle stump line for four balls over the course of two distinct overs.
Babar would continue to win them over. Rashid would then smash across a googly from a length with his third delivery of the 12th over, off his first ball. Babar played a cut and then was shocked by the magnitude of the turn on this, become constricted, and try to stab. Astute Rashid rushed forward to grab his man as the ball skewed back to him.

Babar Azam Could Have Played The Ball Sweeping But He Doesn’t Have This In His Armoury: Misbah-ul-Haq
Pakistan team’s former coach Misbah ul- Haq pointed out, “If you are not able to read the bowl, never go to play this square off the wicket. Because once your bat goes out to play, it will land you in trouble.
So if you are not able to understand it, just go and play straight. We have discussed this in Hasranga’s case as well but our batsmen play cut without reading the ball.”

While pointing out Babar’s inability to play sweep shot, Misbah said, “I have said this many a times that you need to develop your sweep. Today, he could have played the ball sweeping but he doesn’t have this in his armoury.”
We Came On The Back Foot As A Batting Unit: Babar Azam
Babar expressed his dissatisfaction at not being able to complete the task after a five-wicket loss and claimed that their relatively sluggish batting was a result of trying to form partnerships.
He was quoted as saying by the ICC:
“I’m very sad. I think we were 20 runs short and we couldn’t defend because of that. We are very proud to play for Pakistan. It is very sad when you can’t finish it. But I’m disappointed. We were in a different situation.
“We were trying to build partnerships but we couldn’t. Whenever a wicket falls, the batter goes and he takes two-three balls to settle down. We came on the back foot as a batting unit.”

Despite having some of the best opening partnerships in T20Is, Babar and Mohammad Rizwan again got off to a cautious start on Sunday. The captain made 32 off 28 deliveries while Rizwan left for 15 off 14 balls.
