England Cricket Team had won the toss in a high-voltage final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and had elected to field first on a cloudy day at the MCG. Both the captains Jos Buttler and Babar Azam were unchanged and it was quite surprising to see Mark Wood not being a part of playing 11 as he was seen in the nets ahead of the final.
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were finding it tough to smash boundaries as England’s pacers were quite disciplined in their approach. Pakistan managed to score 39 runs in the power-play overs for the loss of 1 wicket. The batters though were converting singles into doubles and were frustrating the bowlers.

Pakistan was looking all set to get a formidable total on the board. At the end of 11 overs, Pakistan’s score was 84-2 whereas in the 11th over Pakistan had scored 16 runs against Liam Livingstone. Skipper Jos Buttler persisted with Adil Rashid for the 3rd over and on the very 1st ball, he bowled a wrong un as Babar was cramped for room and Rashid took a jaw-dropping catch,. Babar was dismissed for 32 runs in 28 balls where he struck 2 fours and was all set to get a significant score on board.
Crucial Phase for Pakistan
Pakistan would be well aware that scoring 130-140 runs won’t be enough to challenge England’s batters. All eyes would be on Shan Masood as he has looked solid in his approach. It would be interesting to see how Pakistan approach as their innings as a couple of wickets can change the dynamics of the match/
England on the other hand, should not get complacent as we all know Pakistan is quite unpredictable. Sam Curran’s overs would most likely decide the fate of the match. As we all know, there is rain predicted which can help England a lot. It would be interesting to see how the match unfolds as England holds a slight edge due to their batting depth.
