PAK vs SA: "Unki Job Keval Ye Nahi Ki Sirf Sweater Pakad Lena Hai" - Former Pakistan Skipper Wasim Akram Believes Technology Has "Spoiled Umpires"

With a win over South Africa in a match that had to be won due to weather, Pakistan maintained their chances of making the semi-finals. In their four T20 World Cup meetings, Pakistan has prevailed in every match. With the most recent outcome, there are no longer any unbeaten teams in this World Cup.
Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan each struck half-centuries to help Pakistan to a respectable total despite their top order failing to fire once more.

Umpiring Chaos During Pakistan vs South Africa Game
Pakistan was left stranded at 43/4 after choosing to bat first after winning the toss, and that is when Mohammed Nawaz (28) and Iftikhar Ahmed (51 off 35) scored 52 runs for the fourth wicket. The partnership would, however, end under the strangest of circumstances.

Nawaz grabbed a thick edge off Tabraiz Shamsi’s ball while attempting to sweep the ball off of him; the edge then bounced off his pad.
The original umpire called the southpaw leg before wicket at this point, but Nawaz was outside his crease trying to grab a single when he was turned back by Iftikhar at the non-striker’s end, and Lungi Ngidi had already made sure the stumps at the striker’s end had been uprooted. A double whammy that started with an incorrect lbw call.
On-Field Umpires Are Getting Relaxed And Making Mistakes: Wasim Akram
Wasim Akram, a former Pakistani bowler, discussed the situation after the game at A Sports and remarked, “I think technology has spoiled umpires. The third umpire is overseeing no-balls, caught behinds, run outs, so obviously it’s human nature that the on field umpires get relaxed.”
He further added, “That’s why they are making mistakes and I think that’s why ICC have to look into it….I’m all for technology but if the humans are there in the middle, they too have a job.

“Unki job keval ye nahi ki sirf sweater pakad lena hai (Their job is not just to hold sweaters). Once in a while it is okay but not all the time. It has been consistent in this World Cup now.”
Depending on other outcomes, Pakistan’s prospects of making the semi-finals will vary. Babar Azam’s men will have a chance if Netherlands or Zimbabwe defeat South Africa or India, respectively. However, they will need to defeat Bangladesh in their first game.
