Former Pakistan National Cricket Team express pacer Shoaib Akhtar was extremely disappointed after Pakistan’s shock defeat against Zimbabwe in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

The match between Zimbabwe and Pakistan was played at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Thursday, October 27. Winning the toss and batting first, Zimbabwe struggled and posted 130 for 8 on the board. Pakistan’s Mohammad Wasim shined with the ball as he bagged 4 wickets also Shadab Khan picked up three wickets.

Chasing the target, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan failed for the second consecutive time in the multi-nation tournament. The middle-order batters once again failed to do well and despite Shan Masood’s 44, Pakistan faced a 1-run defeat.

In a video shared on his official YouTube channel following Pakistan’s shock defeat to Zimbabwe, the furious 47-year-old Shoaib Akhtar slammed the batting unit and even suggested that Babar Azam is a bad skipper.

“I don’t know why is it so hard for you guys to understand. I have said this before, and I am saying it again that with our top and middle-order, we can’t achieve big success. We can’t win consistently. Pakistan have a bad captain. Pakistan are out of the World Cup. Nawaz has bowled the last over in the three games we have lost,” Akhtar said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

Shoaib Akhtar further stated that there are major flaws in Babar’s captaincy, team management as well as pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi’s fitness. He also said that Babar’s batting position in T20Is needs to change.

“Babar should bat one down. Major flaw in Shaheen Shah Afridi’s fitness. Major flaw in the captaincy, and major flaws in the management. We will back you but what brand of cricket are you playing? You can’t just walk into a tournament and expect that the opposition will let you win,” he added.

With the defeat in back-to-back games, the Men In Green are on the verge of getting knocked out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. If the Men In Green want to reach the semi-finals they will have to win the remaining three games and then depend on the match results of other teams.
