South Africa Are Definitely One Of The Hot Contenders For The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Now – Wasim Jaffer

Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Wasim Jaffer has opined that the South Africa National Cricket Team are one of the hot contenders for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

South Africa National Cricket Team had a good campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. They were placed in the group of death along with England, Australia, West Indies and Sri Lanka.

The Temba Bavuma-led side won 4 out of 5 games in the group stage but were unable to make it to the semi-finals due to a poor net run rate. Notably, England, Australia and South Africa all had 4 wins, but England and Australia qualified for the semi-finals due to their superior net run rate.

Meanwhile, South Africa recently defeated England in their own backyard by 2-1 in the thrilling three-match T20I series. The Proteas lost the first match by 41 runs despite Tristan Stubbs’ extraordinary 72 runs knock.

After that, David Miller and Co. made a stellar comeback and won the second T20I by 58 runs and the third T20I by a huge margin of 90 runs.

Former Indian batter Wasim Jaffer was highly impressed with the performance of the David Miller-led side in the series against England and he took to Twitter to shower praise on the team. He also said that the Proteas will be entering the ICC Men’s T20 World 2022 tournament as favourites.

The Proteas have been placed in Group B along with India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and the tournament will be held in October-November in Australia.
