Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistani spinner, recently criticised Aaqib Javed for his remarks criticising Babar Azam’s average T20 cricket strike rate.
The Pakistan Super League team’s director of cricket, Javed, said that Lahore Qalandars didn’t make an effort to get rid of Babar while they were defending a high score against Karachi Kings (PSL). According to his opinion, right-handed batters sometimes spend a long time in the centre of the pitch before accelerating.
It Is Not Right For Someone Like Aaqib Javed To Make Such Statements: Danish Kaneria
Danish Kaneria was not pleased with the remarks. On Monday, he said in a video posted to his YouTube account that Javed should have refrained from criticising the Pakistan captain since he was a former cricket player. Kaneria said:
“He (Aaqib Javed) has served Pakistan cricket for several years, both as a player and coach. It is not right for someone like him to make such statements. Being a former cricketer, he shouldn’t have said that they weren’t looking to get Babar Azam out during the PSL.
“It is always critical to get big players out. Why don’t we see such statements from IPL franchises? IPL teams never say that they don’t want to dismiss Virat Kohli.”
Babar has recently come under scrutiny because of how frequently he scores in the shortest format. At the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE, the right-handed hitter failed to find his rhythm, scoring just 68 runs in six games with a strike rate of 107.93.
Pakistan Need Shaheen Afridi For World Cup: Danish Kaneria
Javed recently said that Shaheen Afridi should think about skipping the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in order to avoid risking an injury, implying that the pace bowler is more significant than the World Cup.
This shouldn’t be the case, Danish Kaneria continued, since Babar Azam and company would require the best fast bowler for the major T20 competition. He believed that Javed was merely making these claims to stir up rumours. The former cricketer remarked:
“A World Cup is very important for all the participating countries. Shaheen is Pakistan’s ace pace bowler and they need him for the crucial tournament. Where else would he play if he didn’t play in the World Cup?
“All preparations are done to ensure that these big players are there for a major event like the World Cup. These are just masala statements to create some kind of hype.”
Afridi is receiving treatment in London for his knee issue after missing the Asia Cup 2022 because to it. During the T20 World Cup 2022 in October, the left-armer is anticipated to make a comeback in the cricket world.
