Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan helped the Pakistan team qualify for the finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as they defeated Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the first semi-final of the tournament by 7 wickets.

The two teams came into this knockout match with very different fortunes as New Zealand had topped Group 1 while Pakistan only made it into the semis after the Netherlands handed a shock defeat to South Africa and they managed to stave off competition from Bangladesh.

Not many gave Pakistan team chances against a rampaging New Zealand side, but experts had full faith of the Men in the Green bowling attack and that’s what helped them come out winners in the crunch semi-finals.

Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bat first. But the Pakistani bowlers first put pressure on their batters and kept that pressure throughout the innings, as New Zealand only managed 152/4. Daryl Mitchell with 52* and Kane Williamson with 46 were the top scorers, while Shaheen Afridi picked 2/24.

In reply, it was the Babar Azam-Mohammad Rizwan show as they added 105 runs for the first wicket and took the game away from Kiwi bowlers, who bowled poorly and their fielders also dropped a couple of catches, including one of Babar.

Babar showed great resilience and made 53 in 47 balls with 7 fours, his first fifty in this tournament. Rizwan continued and made 57 in 43 balls with 5 fours to his name and was named the Player of the Match.

Mohammad Haris then hit 30 in 25 balls to take Pakistan to the win as they won by 7 wickets in SCG and qualified for the final of the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2009.

Twitter was all praises for the Pakistani team making it into the finals and showered their love on the social media platform.
