Imad Wasim comes out of retirement to join Babar Azam & Co. in T20 World Cup 2024

Imad Wasim, on Saturday (March 23), announced that he has come out of his retirement to make himself available for this year’s T20 World Cup.
The allrounder sensationally announced his retirement from international cricket in November last year. His last appearance for Pakistan in T20Is came in April last year. According to reports, he had fallen out of favor with former Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
With Shaheen Afridi replacing Babar as Pakistan’s T20I captain, Imad Wasim hinted that he was not against coming out of retirement to represent his nation once again. Recently, he also revealed that Shaheen had called him to know about his availability for the T20 World Cup.
And the allrounder has now confirmed that he is available to ply his trade for Pakistan once again. On Saturday (March 23), he took to X (formerly Twitter) to state that he had reconsidered his retirement after talking with the PCB officials. He also confirmed that he is available to play for Pakistan in the forthcoming T2o World Cup.
“I am happy to announce that pursuant to meeting PCB officials, I have reconsidered my retirement and am delighted to declare my availability for Pakistan cricket in T20i format leading up to ICC T20i World Cup 2024,” said Imad Wasim.
“I would like to thank the PCB for reposing trust in me and I would give my very best to bring laurels to my country. Pakistan comes first!” he added.

Imad Wasim stars in PSL 2024:
There were calls for Imad Wasim’s inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad ever since he impressed in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL). He played for Islamabad United this year and helped them clinch a record third title. In the final, he picked up five wickets and scored an unbeaten 19 runs. Overall, he picked up 12 wickets in the competition in addition to scoring 126 runs.
So far, he has represented Pakistan in 66 T20Is and has picked up 65 wickets. Talking about the T20 World Cup, it is scheduled to be played from June 1 to 29. Pakistan are placed in Group A along with India, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA.
