Harmanpreet Kaur hit her fourth ODI century against the West Indies, scoring 109 runs off 107 deliveries. With three World Cup Centuries, she became the only Indian women’s batter.

India gathered 317 runs in 50 overs against West Indies at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Saturday, with Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana scoring vital centuries. Mandhana hit 123 off 119 deliveries, whereas Harmanpreet scored 109 with 107 deliveries to set a new World Cup personal best.

Harmanpreet, who hit ten boundaries and two maximums in today’s innings, has now scored three World Cup centuries for India, the highest by any Indian Women’s hitter. One of her most notable innings occurred in the 2017 World Cup semi-final against Australia, when she smashed 171 off 115 balls to help India win by 36 runs.

To do this, she beat Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana. This was her fourth ODI century.

The 184-run partnership between Kaur and Mandhana is the greatest in Women’s World Cup history for India.

India’s innings ends with a score of 317/8. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur both scored hundreds in a 184-run fourth-wicket stand after Yastika Bhatia got off to a fast start.

Mithali had won the toss and elected to bat against the Windies in Hamilton earlier in the day. Yastika Bhatia, who had replaced Shafali Verma in the previous game, scored 31 off 21 as the team got off to a quick start. Mithali (5) and Deepti Sharma (15), on the other hand, fell easily as India faced yet another disappointing middle-order collapse.

The Indian team, however, was saved by Harmanpreet and Mandhana’s hundreds, as the team finished the innings at 317/8 in 50 overs.

India had won their first match of the tournament by 107 runs against Pakistan but then lost their second match by 62 runs against hosts New Zealand.

The bowlers now have the task of defending the total and ensuring India’s second victory in the competition. India had won their first game handily against Pakistan before losing to New Zealand in their second match. On Saturday, the Women in Blue will look to get back on track against the West Indies.
