After the sensational first game, Bangladesh National Cricket Team and Sri Lanka National Cricket Team locked horns with each other in the second game of the two-match Test series. The game commenced on Saturday (30th March) at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Sri Lanka, who won the first game by a massive margin of over 300 runs, made sure that they started the second game of the series against the Bangladesh team on high. They batted tremendously well on the first day of the game, making sure they put the opposition under pressure right from the start.

Sri National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bat first. They made sure that they made full use of the good batting conditions at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram as their top order came up with a display of magnetic batting.

Openers Nishan Madushanka and Dimuth Karunaratne showed great caution against the new ball. But once they had their eye in they made sure that they punished the bad balls and put the bowlers under pressure. The duo played magnificently well and took the team off to a great start.

Both Nishan Madushanka and Dimuth Karunaratne slammed crucial half-centuries for the team and added 96 runs before the former was back in the hut. The right-hander had an unfortunate end to his innings as he got run out and went back for 57 runs off 105 balls.

After he got out, Dimuth Karunaratne made sure that he continued batting with the same focus and took his team to the dominating position in the game. The left-hander played some gorgeous shots in his innings and was looking all set for a big ton but couldn’t as his stay at the crease was cut short by Hasan Mahmud.

Dimuth Karunaratne got bowled against Hasan Mahmud and fell 14 runs short of in what would’ve been a sensational ton. The opening batter played a stellar innings of 86 runs off 129 balls and also slammed 8 fours and 1 six during his stay at the crease on Day 1 of the game against Bangladesh.

After Nishan Madushanka got out, Kusal Mendis took center stage and along with Dimuth Karunaratne made sure that Sri Lanka took complete control of the game on Day 1. The duo added 114 runs for the second wicket and made Bangladesh bowlers look clueless.

Kusal Mendis also oozed his class with the bat and made sure that he also played a crucial innings for his team with the bat. The keeper-batter had a heartbreak as was looking all set for a big total but fell 6 runs short of his century as he was removed by Hasan Mahmud. He scored 93 runs off 154 balls.

After that, Angelo Mathews (23) and Dinesh Chandimal (34*) added 26 runs together before the veteran batter got out. Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva (15*) then joined Mathews and the duo made sure that they ended the day on high for Sri Lanka.

For Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud picked two wickets whereas Shakib Al Hasan also bagged one wicket. At stumps on Day 1, Sri Lanka were at 314/4.
