WI vs BAN: Fit-Again Shoriful Islam Named To Bangladesh's Second Test Squad

Shoriful Islam, a fast bowler, has been named to Bangladesh’s Test team for the second Test against the West Indies, which will begin on Friday, June 24 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia.

The speedster has managed to recover from a wrist injury suffered earlier this year during a Test series against Dimuth Karunaratne’s Sri Lanka.

The southpaw was supposed to fly to St Lucia on Monday, June 20 to join the Tigers. Shoriful, 21, missed the second Test against Sri Lanka and the first Test against the Caribbean team due to injury.

Shoriful, who was ruled out of the West Indies Test series after injuring his wrist against Sri Lanka on the fourth day of the first Test in Chattogram, began hitting balls on Saturday at the BCB enclosed grounds.

‘I was excited to bowl with the Dukes ball’: Shoriful Islam

On the West Indies tour, the speedster, who was a part of Bangladesh’s U19 World Cup-winning group in 2020, expressed his enthusiasm to deliver with the Duke’s ball.

“I have heard about Duke’s Ball, but I have yet to experience it. When I get there, I am hoping to get an opportunity to see the ball (Dukes), and I am looking forward to it “At the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) academy, Shoriful was reported as saying to the media.

“No one likes to get injured, and after getting injured, I naturally feel horrible when I am doing the therapy because everybody wants to be playing, and missing matches hurts,” he explained. “At that moment, it hurts, and making a comeback always gives me a pleasant feeling,” Shoriful Islam added.

Shoriful began bowling in the nets on June 11 to prepare for the white-ball series against the West Indies.
