KL Rahul Reveals He Worked Very Hard On His Fitness Before Comeback

KL Rahul has revealed that he worked very hard on his fitness before his comeback to the national team. He also added that he knew when he would return to the side, he would have to keep wickets and bat.
KL Rahul was out of the national team for a few months. The right-handed batsman got injured in May during IPL 2023. He sustained a thigh injury and underwent a surgery. Later, he underwent rehabilitation and made a comeback to the national team in Asia Cup 2023.
The wicketkeeper-batsman grabbed the limelight in his first match after his comeback. KL Rahul shattered a century in the encounter against Pakistan and also etched a 233-run stand with Virat Kohli.
In the recent IND vs AUS 1st ODI, KL Rahul scored an unbeaten half-century to drive India to victory while chasing. Moreover, he has also done a decent job behind the stumps. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul has solved the team’s issues for the wicketkeeper’s slot.
I Worked Very Hard On My Fitness: KL Rahul
While speaking to India Today, KL Rahul revealed that he knew he would have to keep the stumps post his comeback. Therefore, he worked very hard on his fitness.
“I knew when I would return to the side, I’d have to keep wickets and bat. The physical challenges are a lot more compared to when I am only batting. I knew this, so I worked very hard on my fitness.
As cricketers, we know the challenges that we will have to face on the field and we try to replicate that at training and practice sessions,” the wicketkeeper-batsman said.
Everyone Has Seen Me Playing In Asia Cup: KL Rahul On His Fitness Concerns
When asked about his fitness concerns, KL Rahul noted that his recent performances reveal his fitness to everyone. He also hopes to carry on in the same way in the IND vs AUS series and ICC World Cup 2023.
“Everyone has seen me playing in the Asia Cup, I played all the games in the Super Fours. I kept 50 overs, batted and scored runs as well, so I think that question is answered for everyone who were concerned about my fitness.
Hopefully, I’ll carry on in the same way with a big two months coming up with the World Cup and the Australia series,” the 31-year-old further added.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul led India to victory by 5 wickets in the recent IND vs AUS 1st ODI. The right-handed batsman slammed an unbeaten 58 runs as India chased down the 277-run target in the match. Rahul also leads the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma.
