Australia captain Pat Cummins declined a question regarding India’s pacer Mohammed Siraj in the lead-up to the three-match ODI series. Pat Cummins responded with a one-word answer when asked if the Australia team had a specific strategy to deal with the in-form Mohammed Siraj.

Mohammed Siraj has been in brilliant form in the 50-over format. The right-arm pacer equalled the record of the legendary Sri Lankan pacer for the fastest five-wicket haul in terms of balls in ODIs. He registered the bowling figures of 6/21 in the Asia Cup 2023 final match against Sri Lanka.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of the first ODI against India, Pat Cummins responded with a ‘No’ when asked whether Australia had special plans to counter Mohammed Siraj in the upcoming three-match series. The first match is set to be played in Mohali on Friday, September 22.

We Want To Try Out A Few Combinations – Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins stated that Australia is focused on acclimatizing to the conditions and securing victories ahead of the World Cup. He hinted at experimenting with various combinations and players to prepare for the upcoming tournament adequately.

“Want to strike a balance between getting used to the conditions and getting a few wins under our belts. We don’t want to get to the first game (of the World Cup) under-prepared,” Cummins said.

“We want to try out a few combinations, a few different players but ideally, we have structured the combination we want to go about.

As a captain, I want to get used to how to use my bowlers here. Might be a bit different to South Africa and Australia. Does the second spinner play a part? Hopefully, we’ll get a few answers to that in the next few games.”

Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Starc were named in the squad after missing the recent ODI series against South Africa. However, Cummins confided that Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc have been unavailable for the series opener.
