Robin Uthappa Says Sanju Samson Is Rightfully Dejected After Snub From Asian Games, Australia Series And World Cup Squad

Sanju Samson is enduring the toughest phase of his career as an Indian cricketer. The Kerala cricketer was a traveling reserve in the Asia Cup but did not play any games. He was snubbed from India’s World Cup squad that was announced.
What’s worse is that Samson was not even considered for the Asian Games squad and now he is not a part of the Australia ODI series as well. Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa reckons that Samson should have been sent to the Asian Games by the selectors if they were not too keen on including him in the World Cup squad.
Uthappa has further expressed his disappointment with the selectors subbing Samson from the Australia series after excluding him from the Asian games squad. In his latest YouTube video, Uthappa has spoken about the treatment meted out to Samson in recent times by the selectors.

Wrong Not To Have Sanju Samson In ODI Squad: Robin Uthappa
“I find it wrong to not have Sanju Samson in the squad. He has done well whenever he has gotten an opportunity in ODIs. Yes, he has been inconsistent in T20Is, but his performances in ODIs have been quite good. The justification would be that he won’t be in the XI, so why keep him in the squad?” Uthappa said in his latest YouTube video.
“But I think it is important to have continuity. In the case of Sanju, they haven’t done that. He was in the reserves for the Asia Cup but wasn’t picked for the Australia series. At least send him to the Asian Games. It is very normal to be dejected as a player when you don’t get support despite doing well” he further said.
Samson has 390 runs to his name from 12 ODI innings at an average of 55.71. However, in the current scheme of things, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul seem to be favored by the management ahead of Samson.
The first ODI between India and Australia is set to be played at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Friday, September 22.
