The 36-year-old Australia National Cricket Team left-handed opening batsman David Warner paid the price for playing mind games with the veteran India National Cricket Team off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

During the run-chase in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, September 24, David Warner decided to bat right-handed when Ashwin came to bowl.

It was during the 13th over when Warner decided to switch his stance and bat right-handed against the veteran India off-spinner. On the third delivery of the over, he swept Ashwin for a four, leaving the entire Australian dugout in splits.

When Ashwin returned to bowl in the 15th over, Warner continued with his mind games as he was ready to bat right-handed. However, he paid a heavy price for it as he got dismissed on the very first ball.

Ashwin bowled a full delivery and Warner pre-empted the reverse sweep, getting into a normal left-handed stance, and he fell over on the shot.

The ball hit his pad and the on-field umpire raised his finger to declare David Warner out. Warner went on to have a chat with his partner and decided against a review.

After he walked back to the dugout, replays were shown on the screen that suggested that there was a clear inside edge, but Warner was unaware of the fact. He scored 53 runs during the run-chase off 39 balls, with 7 fours and 1 six, before walking back to the hut.

Earlier, India posted a mammoth 399/5 on the board. Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill stitched together a 200-run partnership with both the batters hitting brilliant centuries. Then, Suryakumar Yadav hit a marvelous 72 runs off 37 balls and was well supported by KL Rahul (52) and Ishan Kishan (31) as India gave a huge target to the Aussies.
