The veteran India National Cricket Team off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin rattled the stumps of the star Australia National Cricket Team batsman Marnus Labuschagne in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, September 24.

Labuschagne looked decent in the second ODI against India and he was involved in a terrific 80-run partnership in 68 balls with David Warner that helped the visitors to make a comeback in the match after losing two quick wickets of Matthew Short and Steve Smith.

However, Labuschagne was unable to convert his start into a big score as was dismissed on the fifth ball of the 13th over. He was back in the dugout after scoring just 27 runs off 31 balls, with 4 fours.

Ashwin bowled a carrom ball that went straight on with the angle. Labuschagne was playing for the normal off-break and the ball beat his bat and pads to crash into the stumps. Overall, Ashwin has dismissed Labuschagne 2 times in 14 balls while conceding 12 runs in the ongoing series.

Hopefully, we’ll turn it around in the last game – Steve Smith

Australia lost the match against India by 99 runs while chasing a revised target of 317 runs from 33 overs. Talking about the match during the post-match presentation, captain Steve Smith lauded the Indian batters. He said:

“When we came here it looked like a good wicket. Credit to them, Gill and Iyer batted beautifully and took the game away from us. The way KL and Surya batted, it was brilliant.”

Steve Smith accepted the fact that they have been losing a lot of matches in recent times and was hopeful of his side making a strong comeback. He said:

“After the rain, it got sticky and it started to spin. We have lost quite a few (matches) in a row, in South Africa and here. We need to sort out a few things, hopefully, we turn it around in the next game. We have a few days now, we are working towards the World Cup, both the teams are. Hopefully, we’ll turn it around in the last game.”
