After surpassing Rahul Dravid, Yashasvi Jaiswal all set to break Virat Kohli's record in IND vs ENG Test series

Indian batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal played an innings of 73 runs from 117 balls and increased his tally to 618 runs from seven innings in the ongoing IND vs ENG Test series. Jaiswal has already slammed two double-hundreds in the series so far and is scoring runs at an average of 103. Jaiswal has been the difference-maker in the series so far and is India’s number-one performer with the bat.

Yashasvi Jaiswal went past Indian head coach Rahul Dravid’s record of scoring 602 runs against England in a Test series. When India were touring England in 2002, he put up an excellent batting display. The next goal for Jaiswal is to surpass former captain Virat Kohli, who currently holds the record for the most runs scored by India against England in a Test series. During England’s 2016 tour of India, Kohli hit 655 runs, including two hundreds and two half-centuries, with the top score of 235.

Yashasvi Jaiswal needs to score 38 more runs to surpass all previous Indian scorers in a Test series against England. With his recent form, Jaiswal should have little trouble reaching the 38 runs required to top the list in his final three innings. Jaiswal recently became the fifth Indian batsman to reach 600 runs in a Test series against England, following in the footsteps of Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, and Dilip Sardesai.

Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as India’s top six-hitter for the in a calendar year. Jaiswal has now hit 23 sixes after surpassing the great Indian opener Virender Sehwag. With 21 sixes in 2022, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is now ranked third. Although Yashasvi Jaiswal announced his arrival to the cricket field during the 2020 U19 World Cup and later played well for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League in 2023. With an average of 48.08, Jaiswal amassed 625 runs in 14 IPL 2023 games, including five half-centuries and a century. He had a 163.61 strike rate for the season.

He played courageously against bowlers and hammered a ton on his Test debut against the West Indies, earning the reward for his outstanding effort. With the opening ball, he attacks the opposing team and puts them under duress. In addition, he provides his partner and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma with a left-handed alternative at the top of the batting order, enabling him to play freely.

Getting back to the IND vs ENG Test series, India ended Day 2 at 219/7. Wicket-keeper batsman Dhruv Jurel is currently unbeaten on 30 runs from 58 balls whereas, Kuldeep Yadav is currently playing on 17 runs from 72 balls. The Indian team currently trail by 134 runs in the first innings against England and would be aiming to take a lead on Day 3.

India lead the five-match series by 2-1 and they would be willing to win the fourth Test match and the series.
