IND vs ENG scorecard, 3rd Test, day 3 highlights: Bowlers and Yashasvi Jaiswal anchor India's comeback against England

Day 3 of the third IND vs ENG Test belonged to the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team. First, it was the bowlers who wrapped up England early for 319 runs, then it was Yashasvi Jaiswal’s show with the bat, who smashed yet another century with his bat in the series.

The momentum has shifted towards the Indian team after England seemed to be ahead after the end of Day 2. Mohammed Siraj led India’s comeback with the ball on Day 3 and ended England’s first innings with a four-wicket haul. He also became the pacer with the best figures at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot in a Test match.

England were not able to continue their aggressive momentum on Day 3 and lost two consecutive wickets by adding up just 18 runs. Joe Root was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah for 18 runs off 31 balls, whereas Jonny Bairstow was trapped in front for a duck by Kuldeep Yadav. Kuldeep also got rid of the big fish Ben Duckett for 153 runs off 151 balls and got him caught by Shubman Gill.

England captain Ben Stokes showed some grace and scored 41 runs from 89 balls, however, he was also dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. Mohammed Siraj wrapped up the English tail and picked up the last 3 of the 4 wickets. Siraj removed Ben Foakes and Rehan Ahmed for 6 runs each whereas, James Anderson fell against him for 1 run.

Bowlers and Yashasvi Jaiswal put India on top in the third Test

Mohammed Siraj bowled the most successful spell by a pacer in Rajkot whereas, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav picked up 2 wickets each. Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah ended the innings with 1 wicket.

Coming out to bat with a lead of 132 runs in hand, Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma added 30 runs for the first wicket. Rohit was not able to continue his first innings momentum and was dismissed for 19 runs from 28 balls and fell against Joe Root. Jaiswal took the onus after Rohit’s departure and added 155* runs from 195 balls along with Shubman Gill for the 2nd wicket.

It was a wonderful ton for the young left-handed opener as he smashed his second 100-plus score of the series. Jaiswal reached the 3-figure mark in just 122 balls, and it was a welcome ton for him as he got dismissed cheaply for 10 runs in the first innings. However, Jaiswal had to walk back to the dressing room after he felt back spasm and hence he retired hurt for 104 runs off 133 balls, with 9 fours and 5 sixes. Shubman Gill also brought up a much-needed half-century after the failure in the first innings.

Rajat Patidar was not able to do much and got dismissed for 0 runs against Tom Hartley. In the end, India finished Day 3 at 196/2, with Shubman Gill unbeaten on 65 runs from 120 balls, and Kuldeep Yadav is currently not out on 3 runs from 15 balls.
