Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for either the 4th or 5th Test of the ongoing IND vs ENG Test series, as per ESPNCricinfo. Jasprit Bumrah will be rested to manage his workload. The Indian pacer has been the most lethal bowler in the India vs England Test series after two games.

Jasprit Bumrah accounts for 15 wickets across 2 Tests at an average of 10+. He is the leading wicket-taker in the series so far. In the previous IND vs ENG 2nd Test in Visakhapatnam, Bumrah won the player-of-the-match award for picking 9 scalps in the match.

With a 6-wicket haul in 1st innings and 3 crucial wickets in the 2nd innings, Bumrah demolished Australia’s batting with his pace attack. In the opening game too, the 31-year-old hunted 6 wickets with a 4-wicket haul in one innings.

According to reports by ESPN Cricinfo, Jasprit Bumrah is highly likely to be rested for one of the two games between India and England. Although Bumrah has not shown any issues of injuries or fitness, he might be rested to manage his workload.

The BCCI’s medical team has conveyed to the board to manage Bumrah’s workload in the India vs England Test series. Notably, the right-arm pacer represented India in all three formats. He missed the field for almost a year in 2022-23 due to a back injury.

In September 2022, the Mumbai Indians pacer sustained a back injury due to which he was ousted from the team. Later, he underwent a back surgery last year and returned to the field in August 2023. Post his comeback, Jasprit Bumrah has shown impeccable form for the Indian team.

Jasprit Bumrah bagged top spot in ICC Test rankings for bowler

Recently, he reached the top spot in ICC rankings for Test bowlers. He became the only 4th player to top the ICC rankings across all three formats in his career. Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, and Virat Kohli are the only other players to achieve this feat.

Meanwhile, Bumrah is likely to be part of IND vs ENG 3rd Test. The encounter will be played at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot from February 15. BCCI is yet to announce the squad for the next three Tests against England. Ravindra Jadeja, who suffered a hamstring injury in the 1st Test, is also likely to return in the 3rd Test after recovery.

The IND vs ENG Test series is at leveled at 1-1 after two matches. India lost the 1st Test by 28 runs after failing to chase down 231-run target in the final innings. However, the Rohit Sharma & Boys made a marvellous comeback in the 2nd Test, winning it by huge margin of 106 runs.
