Captain Rohit Sharma is loved by his teammates and Kuldeep Yadav has revealed another reason for it. Time and again, players have revealed the support and backing they have received from the India captain, and Kuldeep Yadav has revealed how Rohit Sharma went out of the way to ensure he is on the right.
The left-arm spinner’s career was very much off track when Rohit Sharma took charge of the Indian team a couple of years ago. He was struggling with his form as well as his fitness. After making a grand entry into international cricket, the spinner was dropped from the Indian team and also struggled to do well in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
A couple of years ago, he ended up injuring his knee in the IPL and had to undergo surgery. The injury had sidelined him for months. In 2022, he also suffered a wrist injury. He was forced to spend a good amount of time at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for his rehabilitation.
Kuldeep Yadav gets Rohit Sharma’s backing:
While Kuldeep Yadav was at the NCA, captain Rohit Sharma was constantly in touch with the officials to remain updated about the spinner’s progress. Speaking after the third day’s play of the ongoing fourth Test against England in Ranchi, Kuldeep Yadav revealed that the India captain constantly used to talk to the physios and urged them to help the spinner recover quickly.
He also revealed that Rohit had asked the NCA officials to give Kuldeep some specialized workouts that would help him increase his pace.
“When I was in NCA, Rohit Sharma bhaiya used to constantly talk to the physios and he used to talk about my injury and my recovery process and he told the physio to ‘make him recover faster and give him that work to increase his pace and that helped me a lot’,” said Kuldeep Yadav.
