Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan warned Ben Stokes-led side ahead of the third match against India in Rajkot. He believes that Yashasvi Jaiswal will be the problem for the visitors in the last three games.

Young India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the backbone of the Indian team in the ongoing Test series against England. The batter has held the fort for the team in the two games and has been the main reason why the hosts staged a comeback in the second game after losing the first game in Hyderabad.

Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed a blistering knock of 80 runs in the first game in Hyderabad. But his efforts went in vain as India suffered a disappointing loss to go 1-0 down in the series. But he made sure he went two steps ahead in the second match in Vizag.

Yashasvi Jaiswal oozed his class in the second game and made sure that he made many stand and applaud him. The batter slammed a sensational double ton and was the lone warrior for his team in the match. Despite wickets falling at the other end, he held the fort for his team.

The opening batter scored 209 runs and became the third-youngest double-centurion for India in Test cricket and the first left-hander since 2009. His innings helped India post a total of around 400 runs and then subsequently win the game by over 100 runs to level the series.

Yashavi Jaiswal is the leading run-getter in the 2024 Anthony de Mello Trophy. The batter has amassed 321 runs in four innings. What has been the main highlight of his innings is the attacking approach that he has played with in both the innings. He has made England taste their own medicine.

Michael Vaughan touts Yashasvi Jaiswal as big problem for England

During a discussion on the second Test on the YouTube show ‘Club Prairie Fire’, Australia legend Adam Gilchrist, who was present, was delighted after hearing Yashasvi Jaiswal’s name as he said: “Oh yeah, he can bat.”

Michael Vaughan touted Yashasvi Jaiswal as an issue for England and hailed the batter as unbelievable. He stated: “He is a problem for England. He is an issue. And he is unbelievable.”

Former England cricketer Michael Atherton was also in awe of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings in Vizag. He said that the batter played some incredible shots. He hailed the young player’s ability to change the game with T20-style batting. He explained:

“This will be the first time that English supporters have seen him really at any lengths in the middle and boy did he play some shots. Some of the sixes he hit were very very powerfully struck so that combination of the drive and desire to make himself into a great cricketer. But also that kind of ability to take the game on in the T20 style which all the players have now, I thought that was a stunning innings.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal will be next seen in action when the third Test between India and England will take place from 15th February in Rajkot.
