Former cricketer Aakash Chopra picked Yashasvi Jaiswal as one of India’s positives ahead of the upcoming second Test match against England. Aakash Chopra expressed confidence in Yashasvi Jaiswal’s ability to impact the game with his aggressive style of batting.
Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased his prowess with a quick 80 off 74 balls in the first innings. However, the southpaw scored only 15 runs from 35 deliveries during India’s run chase in Hyderabad. The home team experienced a disappointing 28-run loss in the series opener.
The 22-year-old made his Test debut against the West Indies last year. The left-handed batter scored 411 runs in nine innings at an average of 45.67, including one century and two fifties. He is expected to open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma in the next match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal looked very good – Aakash Chopra
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra highlighted Yashasvi Jaiswal’s form and aggressive playing style, expecting him to perform well in the upcoming match. Chopra emphasized Rohit Sharma’s potential for game-changing performances.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal looked very good in the first match. You will back him to come good once again because it is the type of pitch where the ball comes nicely onto the bat. Yashasvi is in good form and the speed at which he plays, he can move the match quickly in your favor,” Chopra said.
“You have got a player called Rohit Sharma who can play a game-changing knock. I remember the last Test series (home series against England) as well. We lost the first match and in the second match, Rohit Sharma single-handedly took India to a position from where you couldn’t have lost,” he added.
Rohit Sharma scored 24 runs off 27 deliveries in the first innings of the recent match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The right-handed batter scored 39 runs off 58 deliveries, including seven boundaries, in the second innings.
They Haven’t Lost Even A Single Series – Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra pointed out that England has not lost a single series under the coaching of Brendon McCullum and the captaincy of Ben Stokes, attributing this success to the bold and fearless attitude of the players.
“The problem is that the opposing team’s batters have come with the thinking that they have nothing to lose and the entire world to gain. People say quite often that they want to be fearless but aren’t able to adopt that approach,” Chopra further stated.
“This team is doing and showing what they are saying because it doesn’t matter to them even if they lose. They haven’t lost even a single series since Brendon McCullum’s coaching and Ben Stokes’ captaincy has come together,” he concluded.
Chopra suggested that England is unlikely to concede the ongoing series easily, especially after India’s loss in the first Test. He further emphasized that if Ben Stokes’s team secures victory in the second Test, India will face a formidable challenge to win the overall series.
Ben Stokes has led the England team to victory in 14 out of 19 Test matches. The second Test against the Rohit Sharma-led side will take place at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, starting on Friday, February 2.
