India were able to make a tremendous comeback in the five-match Test series against England and were able to win the second Test match by 106 runs. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show for India and picked up a total of nine wickets in the whole match. This includes a six-fer in the first innings and he broke the backbone of the England batting lineup. Bumrah also became the first bowler in history to be ranked number one in the ICC Rankings across formats.

Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin while speaking on his YouTube channel heaped praise on the right-arm Indian pacer and stated that it was ‘Boomball’ which was the showstealer in Vizag. Ashwin stated that Bumrah is the leading wicket-taker of the series and also the number one-ranked Test bowler.

Ravichandran Ashwin said, “The real show-stealer is BoomBall. Jasprit Bumrah has bowled extraordinarily. He is the leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets and also the No.1 ranked Test bowler. I am a huge fan of his and this is a Himalayan feat.”

There were speculations that due to Jasprit Bumrah’s injury-prone career, he would be rested from the third Test match, however, the Indian team selectors have included him in the squad for the last three Tests. Bumrah has been named the vice-captain of the side and will once again be leading the Indian bowling attack.

The last few months have been very challenging for Jasprit Bumrah as a player. Bumrah recovered from his back injury last year after staying away from international cricket for almost a year. It looked like, Bumrah would not be back with the same energy and pace.

However, the pacer proved every cricket expert wrong as he has been able to perform even better than before. Jasprit Bumrah has led the Indian pace attack really well and proved to be the number-one pacer for India once again.

Getting back to the IND vs ENG Test series, the Indian selectors have excluded batsman Shreyas Iyer from the last three Test matches due to his poor form. Pacer Akash Deep has been included in the side whereas Virat Kohli has also been ruled out from the last three Test matches due to personal reasons.

The next match of the series will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot from February 15. The Indian cricket team put up a brilliant team performance in the second Test match played in Visakhapatnam. However, there are still many issues for the side to address.

The middle order is still inexperienced and has not been able to perform in the whole series so far. India have been dependent on the performances of individual players whereas the team has not been able to perform with their full batting potential.

England have also given a tough fight to the Indian cricket team in the first two matches of the series, however, their batsmen have also struggled against the Indian bowlers which they would like to improve in the coming matches of the series.
