After Sarfaraz Khan got his Test cap, he hugged his father and showed him his cap. Naushad Khan was emotional after his son’s achievement. While speaking on Aaj Tak, he revealed his son’s strict routine since his childhood. He revealed that his son never flew kites or hung out with his friends and was always committed to his practice.
“It was my dream that what I could not do, he will. It felt like I wore the Test cap through him. He has been in a tight regime since his childhood. He has never flown kites or hung out with his friends. He used to wake up early in the morning and go to practice. Later he would return home in the evening and practice again. When he received the cap, it felt worth it, Naushad Khan said.

Sarfaraz Khan has chosen no 97 as his Test jersey. His father revealed that it implies his name as 9 and 7 means ‘Nau’ and ‘Shaat’ in Hindi.
“I am playing Test cricket through him. He wears my name on his back 9 and 7, which is Nau-Saat, my name – Naushad. I am happy as both coach and father.” he further added.
Sarfaraz Khan hit the headlines last year when he struck three consecutive centuries in the Ranji Trophy for his Team Mumbai. However, he could not get a national call last year. Recently, he showed superb form in India A vs England Lions matches.

Although Sarfaraz is a wicketkeeper-batsman, he did not take the gloves in the match. Dhruv Jurel is the wicketkeeper for the team in the Rajkot Test. Earlier, Rajat Patidar made his Test debut in the 2nd Test. However, he got out cheaply in the match in both innings, hitting 32 and 9.
