India’s middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer who was in dire need to score runs during India’s 2nd innings with the bat, has failed to convert his decent start yet again as he departed in 20s for the second time in a row in the Vizag Test. India are looking to post something over 350 to keep the pressure on the England Bazballers when they take over in the 4th innings.

Shreyas Iyer’s poor form has continued to haunt him and the Indian side. What’s more frustrating to see is that Iyer is constantly failing to convert the starts he is getting off to. That has been the entire story for him in his last 4 Test matches.

The way he had started off as an international Test cricketer was extremely promising as he scored a century on his debut match against New Zealand in Kanpur from the number 5 position. Iyer’s start was so good that he had six 50+ scores in his first 7 Tests against the Kiwis, Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh.

One thing that was common about all of Shreyas Iyer’s 50+ scores were that, all of them had come in flat batting decks. The only Test he played on foreign soil out of his first 7 outings, which came in Birmingham (2022), Iyer had scores of 15 and 19 in what was his first ever red-ball match outside of India.

After that he did score 86 and 87 in the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh in 2022 but since then Shreyas Iyer has continued to faulter against quality bowling attacks of Australia, South Africa and now England.

If Iyer’s 1st inning dismissal was rather a soft dismissal, his 2nd innings departure was a result of the growing pressure and rage inside of his heart. He had stepped out score a biggie off Tom Hartley but ended up sending the ball high towards long on and covers area with England captain Ben Stokes pulling off a effortful backwards running catch.

Iyer’s dismissal means that he now has scores of 31, 6, 0, 4, 35, 13, 27 and 29 in his last 4 Test matches. Upon his middle-order woes, below are some of the best Twitter reactions of Shreyas Iyer.
