Veteran fast-bowler James Anderson took a stunning catch to send back Yashasvi Jaiswal and give England the much-needed breakthrough in the ongoing fourth Test against India in Ranchi.

After being bowled out for just 145 and setting India a target of 191 runs, England failed to get the early breakthrough. Rohit Sharma and Jaiswal helped the hosts end day three on 40 for no loss.

While England would have hoped to get the breakthrough early on day four, they were denied by the India openers once again. Both the batsmen played positively to keep the scoreboard ticking at a healthy rate.

In the third over of the day, Rohit hit James Anderson for a six to get going before Jaiswal opened his arms by hitting Shoaib Bashir for a four in the very next over. Both the batsmen kept hitting boundaries at regular intervals to strengthen India’s position in the game.

James Anderson takes a brilliant catch:

With nothing working out, England captain Ben Stokes turned to Joe Root and handed him the ball to deliver the 18th over of the day. And it paid off immediately as Joe Root struck in his very first over to send back the in-form Jaiswal. The credit for the dismissal should also go to James Anderson who took a brilliant diving catch.

On the third ball of the over, Root bowled a flighted delivery outside off stump and Jaiswal wanted to go hard at it. He went for the big shot but could only miscue it towards backward point. The ball was falling in front of James Anderson but he reacted brilliantly and dived forward to complete a superb catch.

Watch:

Jaiswal departed after scoring 37 runs off 44 balls with the help of five boundaries. At the time of writing this report, India were on 89 for 1 in the 20th over with Rohit batting on 50 and Shubman Gill on 2. The India skipper would be hoping to make the most of his start and guide the team to a series-clinching win.
