Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Jonny Bairstow after the latter was involved in a war of words with Shubman Gill during the second innings of the ongoing fifth Test between India and England at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

As Shubman Gill tried to get under Jonny Bairstow’s skin, the England batter hit back at the India batter by reminding him of his dismissal earlier in the Test. In the first innings, the Indian youngster was clean-bowled by James Anderson.

Before his departure, Gill had played a fine knock of 110 runs while also adding 171 runs with captain Rohit Sharma for the first wicket. His knock came off 150 balls and was studded with 12 fours and five sixes. Reminding Gill about the dismissal, Jonny Bairstow asked him: “What did you say to Jimmy about getting tired and he got you out after that?”

Gill was quick to hit back and quickly reminded the England star of his poor performance in the ongoing series as he said: “So what, it was after hundred. How many have you got here?”

Jonny Bairstow was not ready to back down either as he took a dig at Gill’s record in England, saying: “How many have you got in England?”

Sarfaraz Khan also got involved in the action soon and told Jonny Bairstow: “Abe thoda sa run kya bana liya series me, jyada uchhal raha (roughly translated to: ‘You have started jumping a lot after making few runs in the series’)”

Kuldeep Yadav dismisses Jonny Bairstow:

Shubman Gill and his teammates had the last laugh as Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Jonny Bairstow soon after the incident. The England batter looked in fine touch and raced away to 39 runs off just 30 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes before being trapped in front of the stumps by the left-arm spinner.

The innings has brought an end to Jonny Bairstow’s dismal outing in the five-match series. While he got the starts on several occasions, he could not convert any of them into a big score and has finished the series without a single half-century. In 10 innings, he has scored 238 runs with a top score of 39.
