Bhupendra Jaiswal, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s father, attributed his son’s success to the guidance of Zubin Bharucha, the Performance Director of the Rajasthan Royals. Bhupendra Jaiswal said that Bharucha personally oversaw Yashasvi’s training, especially in preparation for the IPL.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has delivered impressive batting performances in the five-match series against England. The left-handed batter has scored two double-hundreds and a fifty so far in the first three games. He played a crucial role in India’s wins in the recent two games.

Jaiswal scored 209 runs in the second Test in Vizag following India’s loss in the first match. He then notched an uneaten 214 runs in the third Test. He now stands as the leading run-getter in the series, having scored 545 runs in six innings at an impressive average of 109.

Zubin Barucha Has Worked A Lot – Yashasvi Jaiswal’s father

In a conversation with India Today, Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s father emphasized Zubin Bharucha’s involvement in his son’s training during the Indian Premier League. Bhupendra stated that Bharucha tirelessly worked until Yashasvi was exhausted.

“Along with Yashasvi, his coach Zubin Bharucha has worked a lot. He used to go himself and personally train him. Barucha used to keep on grinding Yashasvi till he fell on the ground. It is because of him that Yashasvi has reached these heights. The entire family is happy and is distributing sweets,” Jaiswal’s father said as quoted by India Today.

Yashasvi Jaiswal came into the limelight at the 2020 U-19 World Cup, where he earned the Player of the Series award for his outstanding performance. He scored 400 runs at an average of 133.33. Jaiswal secured a contract with the Rajasthan Royals in 2019 for 2.40 crore.

Jaiswal earned his spot in the Indian team following his remarkable display during the 2023 Indian Premier League season, where he amassed 625 runs in just 14 matches with an impressive strike rate of 163.61. Making his Test debut memorable, he scored a century.

Just Happen To Be One Of Them – Zubin Barucha

Reflecting on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s journey, Zubin Barucha highlighted the transition from U-19 cricket to the IPL. Barucha humbly acknowledged his role in Jaiswal’s development, emphasizing the collective effort of many in shaping the young cricketer’s success.

“He had come from U-19 India but IPL is a very different level. He came for the trial and I don’t remember who the bowler was but he walked across stumps and played a flick behind the square, first ball,” Bharucha was quoted as saying by Ommanorama.

“There is a saying that it takes a village to make a champion. There are many people who have contributed in Yashasvi’s journey so far and I just happen to be one of them. He came from a place where he had very little,” he added.

The young Indian opener will be next seen in action during the fourth Test of the series at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi starting on Friday, February 23.
