IND vs IRE: Will Have Plenty Of Learnings - Ravichandran Ashwin On Prithvi Shaw Playing County Cricket In England

Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin talked about Prithvi Shaw’s ongoing stint in county cricket for Northamptonshire in England. He hailed the batter for his heroics and said that it’ll teach him a lot about his work ethic, cricket and life. 

Prithvi Shaw has set the stage on fire in the ongoing Royal One Day Cup for Northamptonshire in England. The young Indian batter has piled up a huge amount of runs in the English domestic circuit and has played a massive role for his team. 

Prithvi Shaw smashed a double century and then followed it with a century in the next game. He’s currently the leading run-getters in the competition with 429 runs to his name at a sensational average of 143. The batter has achieved this amount of runs in just four innings, which speaks a lot about his form. 

Ravichandran Ashwin lauded Prithvi Shaw for his exceptional double century and said that he’s really happy for the young batter because he has seen lots of ups and downs in his career.

Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained: “Prithvi Shaw scored a double-hundred in their domestic one-day tournament in England for Northants. I saw the boundary snippets from his knock. It looked really good and that was an exceptional knock. 

“We all know Prithvi Shaw’s extraordinary bat swing and he is an outstandingly talented player… I am really happy for someone like Prithvi Shaw because he has seen plenty of ups and downs in his short career so far.” 

Prithvi Shaw has been in the headlines for his off-the-field antics. He recently had a fight with social media influencer Sapna Gill and his case was dragged even into court.

Ravichandran Ashwin further went on to say that Prithvi Shaw will breathe fresh air in England and while talking about his stint earlier, he added that the young batter will learn a lot.

He explained: “So, for someone like him (Shaw), away from home in England, seeing new players will be a breath of fresh air for him. I felt that way whenever I went to England and played county cricket. So, he will get that too,” 

He will have plenty of learnings about his life, work ethic, cricket, and whatnot. Because he will be in a position to teach a few youngsters in England as well. Even that can transform your cricket. So, I am extremely delighted for Prithvi Shaw,” he concluded.
