The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that former South African pacer Allan Donald will continue as Bangladesh’s fast bowling coach for the upcoming home series against India. He was appointed as the bowling coach till the end of the T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh were knocked out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 after losing to Pakistan in the must-win encounter against Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals. The Shakib Al Hasan-led team lost the game from a winning position at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, November 6. Despite a disappointing campaign, the board is backing the players and coaching staff.

According to Cricbuzz, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed that Allan Donald will be part of the coaching staff during the home series against India, which consists of three ODIs and two Tests.

“Allan Donald is available during the home series against India,” Nizamuddin said. “His contract (that is signed till the ICC T20 World Cup 2022) is an internal matter, but he is available during the India series.”
After the first game of the tri-series in New Zealand, Bangladesh’s team management decided to rest Mustafizur Rahman. The Protean worked extensively on pace bowler regain his rhythm and consistency for the national squad and his impact was felt during the T20 World Cup campaign, as the pacer contributed significantly to his team’s results.

“He (Donald) did pretty well to guide Mustafizur during the tri-series ahead of the World Cup and Fizz bowled relatively well in the global tournament,” said the official.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are expected to make a decision on the extension of their coaching staff’s contract in the coming days, with head coach Sridharan Sriram’s future with the national side uncertain. However, reports indicate that the board is pleased with his performance and may retain him again for future assignments.
