IND vs BAN: “Best Innings Of His Entire Career” – Ajay Jadeja On Shreyas Iyer's 29* vs Bangladesh In 4th Innings Of Mirpur Test

Former India National Cricket Team batter Ajay Jadeja showered praise on the 28-year-old batter Shreyas Iyer for his performance in the 4th innings of the second Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team.

The second Test between India and Bangladesh was played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. While chasing a small 145-run target on the spin-friendly surface, India were reduced to 74/7. However, Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin forged a match-winning 71-run unbeaten stand for the 8th wicket.

While batting at No.8, Iyer scored 29 runs off 46 balls, including 4 fours, and Ashwin, while batting at No.9, scored 42 runs off 62 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six.

Speaking on Sony Sports Network, Jadeja praised Shreyas Iyer’s temperament in the chase and his fearlessness which steered India to triumph. He even labelled Iyer’s unbeaten 29-run knock in the 4th innings as the best knock of his career.

“Shreyas Iyer scored just 29 runs but I found it the best innings of his entire career so far. Because he showed how to play under such conditions. The results would have gone anyway. Had Ashwin’s catch at short-leg been taken, the results would have been different. But we saw the temperament in Iyer. Skills can easily be shown in 10 days but the temperament gets revealed only at the right time,” Jadeja told Sony Sports Network.

Jadeja further said that despite a few twists and turns everything fell in India’s favour in the second Test match.

“You did a great job at the end when the game almost slipped away from your hands. But when things were under control and nothing much was done, that has to be seen, addressed, and learned from it. You had an 80-run lead at the start of day three but how it ended was troublesome and so was the first hour on the fourth day. But ultimately, everything fell in India’s favour in the end,” Jadeja told Sony Sports Network.
