Team India won the 2nd Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka with efforts from Shreyas Iyer and R Ashwin on the morning of Day 4 as Bangladesh looked determined for a Test win. Bangladesh were bowled out for 231 runs in the second innings, setting a tricky target of 145 for India to chase. The KL Rahul-led squad had lost four wickets for 45 runs at the end of Day 3 and needed 100 runs to win the game.

Bangladesh made a roaring comeback in the fourth innings, dismissing skipper KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli for single-digit scores. India were 7 wickets down after Mehidy Hasan Miraz took a five-wicket haul. Shakib Al Hasan dismissed night watchman Jaydev Unadkat early, while Mehidy quickly removed Rishabh Pant for LBW.

In the first innings, India took the lead thanks to Rishabh Pant’s quick-fire 93. Pant and Shreyas Iyer added a crucial partnership of 159 runs to help India recover from the early wickets. Shreyas scored 87 in the first innings and once again he needs to finish the game to keep India’s WTC hopes alive.

Now, India need wins in at least three of the four Tests, and a defeat will affect their run for a place in the World Test Championship finals. With the series against Australia, India cannot afford to waste chances against Bangladesh.
