IND vs BAN: CVs Of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, And Virender Sehwag Sent Via Spam Emails To BCCI For National Selectors' Positions

The BCCI mandarins were shocked to see applications from Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Virender Sehwag when they opened the email to review the CVs of potential national selection committee members. Inzamam ul Haq, the captain of Pakistan, also offered his candidature for the role, as if that weren’t enough.

All of these CVs were only uploaded using spam email addresses by phonies looking to amuse themselves at BCCI’s expense. For the five-member selection panel, the BCCI has received over 600 email applications, some of which were from fictitious Tendulkar, Dhoni, Sehwag, and Inzamam IDs.

Around 600 Applications Received By BCCI

For the high-profile roles, the Cricket Advisory Committee is anticipated to nominate 10 candidates. 

“Around 600 applications have been received and some of them have come from fake ids claiming to be Dhoni, Sehwag and Tendulkar. They are simply wasting BCCI’s time by doing that. 

“The CAC will shortlist 10 candidates and then choose the final five. The process will be completed soon,” a BCCI source told PTI.

Following the team’s elimination from the T20 World Cup semifinals last month, the BCCI fired the selection panel chaired by Chetan-Sharma. However, that panel is still in function since the replacements have not been chosen. The committee is now viewing the second round of the Ranji Trophy after seeing the previous round as well. Bengal vs. Himachal Pradesh is being watched by Debasish Mohanty in Kolkata. 

The BCCI Apex Council was unable to approve the players’ core contracts on Wednesday because the selection committee has not yet been established and their involvement is required before the list is finalized. 

To finish the task, the CAC, which consists of Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe, and Sulakshna Naik, was appointed earlier this month. 

The selection panel’s first responsibility will be to choose teams for the home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, which begins January 3, in addition to choosing the key contracts.
