Indian Cricket Team suffered a massive defeat against England in T20 WC where they lost the match by 10 wickets. Since then a lot of questions are raised about the team’s preparation. Skipper Rohit Sharma has been under the pump as the team hardly showed any intent in the knock-out match.

The skipper has been rested for the tour of New Zealand and is named against the Bangladesh leg. Rohit Sharma would be eager to make a statement that he is not finished yet. The 3-match ODI series is set to commence on 04th December as this series is not a part of the World Super League.

Rohit Sharma’s childhood coach Dinesh Lad was having an interaction with Sportskeeda and was asked about the team.

“I thought, maybe, in the last seven-eight months, we are not a stable team. If we are preparing for the World Cup, it should be an established team. In the last seven months, somebody is coming to open the innings, somebody is coming to bowl, there is no stability,” said Dinesh Lad.

“I don’t think so (on giving workload management as the reason). Everybody in the world is playing because they are professionals, not a workload you can say. Why are they playing in the IPL?

“Don’t play the IPL if you want to win the World Cup. In actual professional grades, they should play every game (at the international level) because we are getting something from that. It’s not an honorary job and there should be no compromise in international cricket.” he stated.

“It is on them only. How can I say this (whether players should drop their IPL contracts)? They will have to take a call on that. Because you have been playing for India and for your states continuously that’s why you are considered for the IPL. Your international performance helps you determine your salary cap (in the IPL). So directly you don’t get an entry into the IPL,” he added.

Critical Series for India

With the ODI World Cup slated for next year, the Management needs to find an ideal combination quickly. They should stick to one combination rather than frequently chopping and changing as it disturbs the team’s dynamics.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be well aware of the fact that they cannot take Bangladesh lightly. Last time in 2015 Bangladesh had won the ODI series on their back yard which was quite a great feat. The Bangladeshi Tigers would be roaring to repeat the feat.
