Ishan Kishan, a wicketkeeper-batter, has become the first player in one-day international (ODI) cricket to convert a maiden ton into a double hundred. The left-handed opener set the mark during India’s third ODI against Bangladesh in Chittagong on December 10.
The previous highest score as a maiden ton was scored by Charles Coventry (194) of Zimbabwe against Bangladesh. Kishan went all guns blazing against the Bangladeshi bowling attack after losing his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan (3) in the fifth over. He and Virat Kohli put on a 290-run partnership for the second wicket.

Ishan Kishan’s Insane Knock
Kishan’s 210-run knock came off 131 balls and contained 24 fours and 10 sixes. He had reached the half-century mark after 49 balls and the century mark after 85 balls.
Following that, he increased his strike rate to 150 off 103 deliveries and 200 off 126. Kishan’s blazing knock came to an end in the 36th over, when he was caught by Bangla bowler Taskin Ahmed.

Virat Kohli Scores His 72nd International Ton
Aside from Kishan, former Indian captain Virat Kohli was also in fine form, hitting a 91-ball 113 with 11 fours and two sixes and reaching his 72nd international century.
Kohli eclipsed renowned Australian top-order batsman Ricky Ponting (71) in terms of most hundreds in international cricket with the sparkling ton. Kohli now has 72 international century in all three forms, trailing only the legendary Sachin Tendulkar (100 hundreds).
Virat Kohli’s century against Bangladesh was his first in ODIs since August 2019.
KL Rahul (8), who was captaining the team in place of the injured Rohit Sharma, was a cheap replacement. All-rounders Axar Patel and Washington Sundar eventually joined forces to help India reach 400 runs.
India is currently behind Bangladesh 0-2 in the three-match One-Day International series. Both sides will also face off in two test matches over the next two weeks.
