On Friday, December 9, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the 27-year-old India National Cricket Team left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been included in the squad for the third and final ODI of the three-match series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team.

The inconsequential third ODI between the Bangla Tigers and the Men In Blue will be played at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday, December 10. Notably, India have already lost the series after facing a defeat in the first ODI by 1 wicket and in the second ODI by 5 runs.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav last played an ODI match for India National Cricket Team in October this year during the South Africa tour of India 2022. He finished his spell with the figures of 4.1-1-18-4 in that game at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi to bag the Player of the Match award.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has added Kuldeep Yadav to India’s squad for the third and final ODI,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in an official media release.

In the same media release, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) provided an update on the fitness status of Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Sen, and Deepak Chahar.

Notably, India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma sustained a thumb injury while fielding in slip cordon during the second ODI at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday. Rohit came out to bat with an injured thumb at No.9 in the second ODI and played a stellar knock, but unfortunately, he failed to guide India to a victory.

“India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb in the second over while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him and he underwent scans at a local hospital in Dhaka. He has flown to Mumbai for specialist consultation and will miss the final ODI. A call on his availability for the upcoming Test series will be taken later,” BCCI said in an official media release.

Meanwhile, medium-pacer Deepak Chahar couldn’t bowl after his initial three overs in the second ODI and walked off the field with a stiff hamstring. Also pacer Kuldeep Sen was unavailable for selection due to back stiffness. The BCCI has confirmed that Kuldeep Sen has been diagnosed with a stress injury.

Fast bowler Kuldeep Sen complained of stiffness in his back after the first ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him and he was advised rest from the 2nd ODI. Kuldeep has been diagnosed with a stress injury and is ruled out of the series. Fellow fast bowler Deepak Chahar sustained a left hamstring strain during the 2nd ODI and is also ruled out of the series. Both Kuldeep and Deepak will now report to NCA for further management of their injuries,” BCCI further said.
