India National Cricket Team have been dealt with yet another huge injury blow as skipper Rohit Sharma has sustained a thumb injury.

The Indian captain suffered the injury while fielding in the second ODI of the three-match series against Litton Das-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday, December 7.

The 35-year-old was fielding in the slip cordon during the first innings of the match when right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj drew an outside edge from Anamul Haque. The ball went toward Rohit Sharma and he was unable to grab the catch. Also, in the process, he ended up hurting his thumb.

Rohit was seen in pain after the blow and he quickly walked off the field to get some treatment. The Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar replaced the Indian captain on the field.

He has now gone for scans – BCCI provides a big update on Rohit Sharma’s injury

After the incident, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to provide a major update on Rohit Sharma’s injury. In an official statement issued by the board, it was stated that Rohit was assessed by the BCCI medical team, before being sent for the scans.

India Captain Rohit Sharma suffered a blow to his thumb while fielding in the 2nd ODI. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He has now gone for scans,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul, the designated vice-captain of the team, has been handed the captaincy responsibility in Rohit’s absence.
