IND vs SL: “Individual Brilliance Is Important, But You Should Never Forget What Happened In Bangladesh” – Gautam Gambhir To Virat Kohli

Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Gautam Gambhir has made a hard-hitting remark on Team India while talking about Virat Kohli’s recent outings with the bat.

The modern-day batting great Kohli recently smashed back-to-back centuries in ODI cricket. He hit his 44th ODI ton in Bangladesh last month and his 45th ODI ton came against Sri Lanka at home. Bangladesh defeated India in the three-match ODI series by 2-1 last month. However, the Men In Blue have secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka after winning the first two games.

In the mid-match show during the second ODI between India and Sri Lanka, the expert panel that comprised the likes of Sanjay Manjrekar and Gautam Gambhir talked about Kohli’s recent performances with the bat.

Former opener Gambhir said that people should never forget that India recently faced an ODI series defeat against the Bangla Tigers and insisted that the focus should be on collective performances rather than individual brilliance.

“We should not forget that India had lost its last ODI series against Bangladesh. We have forgotten about it. Yes, individual brilliance is important, individual hundreds are important, it looks very nice when it comes to your record that you got your 50 hundreds or 100 hundreds, but you should never forget what has happened in Bangladesh. Because that is got to be a huge learning,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.

The 41-year-old added that India’s full-strength team losing against Bangladesh is a big thing and the past shouldn’t be forgotten.

“India’s full strength losing to Bangladesh in Bangladesh, I think we should grow from there rather than focusing only on this series. What has happened in the past should not be forgotten,” the former opener further said.

Notably, Rohit Sharma-led India lost the first two games of the three-match ODI series against Litton Das-led Bangladesh. Mehidy Hasan Miraz emerged as the hero for the Bangla Tigers in their spectacular triumph over the strong Indian team.

Meanwhile, in the third game of the series, India demolished Bangladesh and won the match by 227 runs. Notably, Ishan Kishan smashed the fastest ODI double century in that game and Kohli registered his long-awaited ODI century.
