Shreyas Iyer of India’s middle order continues to break records and maintain an incredible level of consistency, becoming the fastest Indian batsman to reach 1,500 runs in ODI cricket. Iyer accomplished this feat during India’s second One-Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh on Wednesday in Dhaka.

Shreyas Iyer Reaches 1500 Runs In Just 34 Innings, Breaks KL Rahul’s Record
Shreyas Iyer has now scored 1,534 runs at an average of 49.48 in 38 matches and 34 innings. In his ODI career, he has two hundreds and 14 half-centuries, with a top score of 113*. He has surpassed opener KL Rahul, who reached the milestone in 36 innings, and is followed by Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan, who did it in 38 innings.
Iyer has scored 721 runs in 14 innings across 16 matches this year at an average of 60.08, with one century and six fifties. Individually, his greatest score is 113*.

He has scored the most runs in ODIs this year among Test-playing nations. Namibia’s MG Erasmus has scored the most runs in ODIs this year, with 956 runs in 21 matches, in 20 innings at an average of over 56, with one century and eight fifties. In 2022, Iyer is the sixth-highest run-scorer in ODIs.
In 2022, the hitter leads India’s ODI batting charts. Shikhar Dhawan (685 in 21 innings) and Shubman Gill (638 in 12 innings) are two of his country’s closest opponents this year.
