Shreyas Iyer Looking For A Permanent Place In The Test Team

Shreyas Iyer has played just 38 innings and already scored 1489 runs. Across all forms, he has batted with an average of 47.96. Pujara (90) lost out on a century, but Iyer (82), who was undefeated, was still on track to reach his milestone. After taking early wickets, India stabilised the innings through to Rishabh Pant’s counterattacking 46 in 45 balls. The day’s final ball resulted in the dismissal of 13-year-old Axar Patel.

Taijul Islam (3/84) of Bangladesh took three wickets for 81 runs, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (2/71) and Khaled Ahmed (1/26) also claimed victims.

After deciding to bat, India lost their captain KL Rahul (22), Shubman Gill (20), and Virat Kohli (1) before lunch. India must win both games in the series to keep its chances of making the World Test Championship final alive.
