IND vs BAN: Umran Malik Replaces Injured Mohammed Shami In India's ODI Squad

Prior to the first ODI, India was dealt a serious blow when senior bowler Mohammed Shami was forced to withdraw from the white-ball series due to a shoulder injury he had incurred in preparation for the Bangladesh tour. The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement.
In preparation for the forthcoming three-match ODI series, which will be followed by two Test matches, Team India arrived in Bangladesh on Friday, December 2.

Umran Malik To Replace Injured Mohammad Shami
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to replace him with youthful speedster Umran Malik. Malik will join the Indian team in Mirpur, Bangladesh where the teams will play the first two ODIs, while Shami will travel to Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) for his rehabilitation.
Shami’s availability for the ensuing two-match Test series is also uncertain due to this ailment. If Shami is unable to play in the red-ball matches, India will suffer a severe setback. One of the team’s key players, Shami experience is what India needs right now to win all of their remaining Test matches and go to the World Test Championship finals.
In the recently finished series against New Zealand, Umran Malik received his first ODI cap and took at least one wicket in each of the two matches he bowled. In the first match, he picked up two wickets while giving up 66 runs, while in the third ODI, he recorded 1/31 in five over of his spell.
He will be looking to take advantage of the chance given that all senior players will be playing in the forthcoming ODI series. On Sunday, December 4 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, India and Bangladesh square off in the first ODI.
