Bangladesh Cricket Team won a fascinating contest against the Men in Blue in the 1st ODI. The hosts won the match by 1 wicket and showed a lot of character throughout the match. The team however would be slightly disappointed with their performance as the likes of Rahim, Shakib & Mahmudullah weren’t able to take the team over the finish line.

India on the other side got a reality check as getting bundled out for 186 was quite shocking. The skipper Rohit Sharma would be worried as one more loss would not only question their preparation and dynamics but it won’t be good when World Cup is just one year away.

Wasim Jaffer on Shakib Al Hasan

Wasim Jaffer was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about Shakib Al Hasan. “Yes, he is definitely one of the best (all-rounders) . It’s just so unfortunate that he plays for Bangladesh and he doesn’t get the same kind of recognition with the other all-rounders.’ But it turns out performances like this with the ball, with the bat and on big occasions as well.” said Wasim Jaffer.

“a In 2019 World Cup, he scored heaps of runs and literally carried Bangladesh Cricket Team on his own shoulders. He is one of the rare all-rounders coming from the Bangladesh and he is doing against really good team. Really happy for him.” he added.

Great Win for Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Cricket Team would be over the moon as beating a full fledged Indian team doesn’t happen overnight. The stand-in skipper Litton Das was quite spot-on with field placings and rotate the bowlers smartly. The decision to introduce spin in the power-play overs proved to be the turning point as the trio: Dhawan, Rohit & Virat were dismissed.

This ODI Series may not be a part of World Super League points but now the teams would be eager to get an ideal combination for the next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. It would be interesting to see if Bangladesh make any changes to their lineup.
