The 28-year-old Bangladesh National Cricket Team batter Litton Das, who is also the Test vice-captain of the side, after the play on Day 3 of the second Test said that the Bangla Tigers are ahead in the match and the India National Cricket Team are under pressure.

The second Test between the Asian nations is being held at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. On Day 3, Indian bowlers performed very well and bundled out Bangladesh for 231 as India got a target of 145 to chase down. From Bangladesh, only Litton Das (73) and Zakir Hasan (51) were able to perform well with the bat.

Defending the target, Mehidy Hasan Miraz ran through India’s top order and reduced them to 37/4. At stumps, India were at 45/4, with 100 runs away from victory. Notably, Bangladesh have never defeated India in Test history in 12 attempts, managing to just draw twice while losing the rest.

Speaking after the day’s play, Litton Das said that Bangladesh will be in a dominant position to secure the win on Day 4 if they pick up a couple of early wickets.

“Ofcourse it’s possible to win, if we can pick one or two wickets early in the morning it’s possible,” Litton told reporters after the day’s play, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“Definitely we are ahead at the moment and they are under pressure. If tomorrow we come with a good plan, definitely they will break down. That’s our goal. We need to win.

“We always know how hard it is to bat in the fourth innings in Mirpur. We knew that we had to give them a 200-220 target but the score that we actually put up, they still need 100 and it is still difficult. They will be under pressure if we take one or two quick wickets tomorrow. I think this target is enough for a win.”

Litton further said that the wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant would be the key player for India on Day 4 and the result of the match would depend a lot on his batting performance. He said:

“If Rishabh bats like he usually does, it will be difficult. The scenario will change. We are bowling well, and the pitch is helping us. Let’s see what happens.”

Litton Das further said that beating India in the Test match would be the biggest achievement for Bangladesh.

“There would be nothing like it. Beating the No 1 Test team in the world is the biggest achievement,” he opined.

Litton added 32 runs with Zakir Hasan, 46 runs with Nurul Hasan and then 60 runs with Taskin Ahmed in the second innings, which was the best partnership of the innings for Shakib Al Hasan and Co. While talking about partnerships, Litton said:

“When Miraz came to bat I told him that it’s not the kind of surface where one can defend and stay for a long time. You have to counterattack. Miraz couldn’t do it but I said the same thing to Sohan (Nurul) bhai. The time he spent brought vital runs no matter how long and then I told Taskin the same thing.

“The more you get bogged down here, the more they will dominate. The match can’t be drawn or you can bat for a long time. So what I told everyone is that we need runs no matter how they come. It is difficult to defend 100, but the scenario is different when you set 150 to win. It would have been even better had the lead been 200. This Test wouldn’t go into the fifth day, so I kept saying to Taskin that we must attack them. I think we were successful.”
